Hamstring Live Assessment
The hamstring module is based on a protocol first described by Carl Askling. The passive Straight Leg Raise (SLR) test measures Rand of Motion (ROM). The active straight leg raise measures both active ROM and velocity of active SLR (degrees /second).
Passive Test
1. Place one hand over the knee (to keep the leg straight) and the other under the subject’s foot.
2. Raise the unstrapped leg of the subject as far as comfortable (without causing pain) and then gently lower it back down.
3. Repeat step 2 until 3 repetitions of leg raises are complete.
4. Remove the strap from the leg and strap down the other leg.
5. Repeat steps 1 to 3.
Conduct Active Test
1. Strap down the leg not being tested.
2. Ask subject to raise the other leg as fast as possible and as far as comfortable without causing pain. Three repetitions of leg raises must be performed.
3. Remove the strap from the leg and strap down the other leg.
4. Repeat step 2.
